- Although total distillate imports have been unusually strong this winter, heating oil (high-sulfur distillate) imports have grown by a proportionately greater amount.
- As this slide shows, estimated heating oil imports jumped to an estimated 330 thousand barrels per day in December, and nearly 430 thousand barrels per day in January, about twice the peak levels seen in the past several winters.
