Notes:

• There is room for some increases in production both in PADD 1 as well as on the Gulf Coast.

• This chart shows historical production over the winter months, with the “high-stock” winter of 1997-1998 shown as a shaded area. The other years are shown with lines.

• PADD 1 refinery production has varied about 150 thousand barrels per day. The graph shows that January production is about 75 thousand barrels per day below 1998 January production, and perhaps 100 thousand barrels per day below the highest production (May 1998) on this chart.

• Thus, there is some room for extra production in PADD 1, assuming all refineries are in working order.
