Notes:
- In 1998, a worldwide supply surplus added to the U.S. surplus through higher net imports. Propane net imports increased 32 thousand barrels per day in 1998 over 1997.
- This understates the surge in the first half of the year when net imports rose to almost 140 thousand barrels per day, which is almost double the average 74 thousand barrels per day experienced since 1991.
- Net imports were higher mainly as a result of the increase in imports, which rose 25 thousand barrels per day from 113 in 1997 to 138 in 1998. But exports contributed to the net rise by falling 7 thousand barrels per day from 32 in 1997 to 25 in 1998.
