Q2: Does Form EIA-914 replace any EIA form that I currently submit to EIA?

A2: No. This is a new survey and does not replace any EIA survey.

Q3: Why does my company have to complete the new monthly natural gas production report EIA-914?

A3: Form EIA-914's purpose is to collect comprehensive data on natural gas production sooner than currently possible. The new survey will provide a timely, accurate source of monthly natural gas production data. Production estimates based on this data are essential for informed market decisions and policymaking.

Q4: When is the form due?

A4: A completed Form EIA-914 for January 2005 will be due to EIA on or before March 31, 2005, approximately 60 days after the end of the report month. This 60-day reporting cycle will continue with the February and March reports. The April report will be due to EIA on or before June 9, 2005, 40 days after the end of the report month. Subsequent monthly reports will also be due to EIA 40 days after the end of the report month.

Q5: My company does not have the information required on the Form EIA-914 before the due date. Can we get an extension?

A5: No, but reporting of reasonable estimates is encouraged if necessary to meet the due date.

Q6: Should I report revised data?

A6: Yes. Submit a revised report as soon as possible when the correct data varies more than plus or minus four percent from previously reported values. On the form, report the revised values, check the box on the form indicating that it is a resubmission, and indicate the report month for the revision. This applies to changes in the values of Gross Withdrawals and/or Lease Production reported for any of the seven States/Areas on the form. Only enter values on the resubmission form for the revised/changed values. Unrevised values should not be reported again (leaves these boxes blank).

Q7:  Should I inform you of a change in the contact person in our company for Form EIA-914?

A7: Please inform us as soon as possible of any change in the name, phone number, etc., of the contact person for Form EIA-914 in your company. The contact person should be the person who can answer questions about the data you report. Also, please begin entering this new information on the form the next month that you file and check the appropriate box indicating a change.

Q8: Should I inform you if our company is sold, merged with another company, or buys another natural gas company?

A8: Yes. Please inform us as soon as possible of any such changes in your business using a contact method listed in question one.

Q9: Our pressure base is different from the 14.73 psia cited in the form. Should I just note this in the comments section of the form?

A9: No. Convert your volumes to the required pressure base. To do this, calculate a pressure adjustment factor for your data in each state. This adjustment factor is the value of your pressure base at 60-degrees Fahrenheit divided by 14.73. Multiply all your volumes by this factor and report the resulting values. For example, if your pressure base is 15.025 psia at 60 deg F, your factor will be 15.025/14.73 = 1.02. Contact us if you need assistance.

Q10: May I report a negative volume?

A10: No. Negative values should not be filed on any part of the Form EIA-914.

Q11: What if the value is zero?

A11: If operated properties in any area produce no gas, a value of zero (0) should be reported for that area. If there are no operated properties in an area, leave the cell blank for that area.

Q12: What units should I use to report the production volumes?

A12: Report the monthly volumes in million cubic feet (MMCF).

Q13: How can I avoid getting calls from EIA asking about my data?

A13: a.  File the form on time.
         b.  Allocate "accounting adjustments," "prior period adjustments," or "accrual entries" to the
         months in which the adjustments actually occurred.
         c.  Do not report any negative data.
         d.  Examine your form carefully to be sure data is entered on the correct line.
         e.  Use the comment section of the form to explain large changes in your company's reported
         production volumes.
         f.  Inform us as soon as possible of any change in the name, phone number, etc., of the contact
         person for Form EIA-914 in your company. The contact person should be the person who can
         answer questions about the data you report. Also, please begin entering this new information on
         the form the next month that you file.
