Retail Unbundling - Missouri
Status: The state has no unbundled service
programs for residential customers.
Overview: No retail unbundling program for
residential customers is being considered at this time by either the Missouri
Public Service Commission or the state legislature. It has been discussed in
the legislature, but nothing is currently in progress. Industrial and
commercial customers have been able to receive unbundled service since 1986.
The utilities still provide meter reading, billing, maintenance, and other
ancillary services.
EIA State Data: In 2003, Missouri had 1,343,614
residential and 140,133 commercial customers who consumed 115 and 63 billion
cubic feet of natural gas, respectively. The average prices paid for natural
gas purchased from local distribution companies by residential and commercial
customers were $9.49 and $8.59 per thousand cubic feet, respectively.
