I5. Electricity: Monthly and Annual Data on Sales

EIA's monthly and annual data on sales of electricity are obtained from electric utilities and other energy service providers, which often use their service classes to report data by energy-use sector. Depending on their recordkeeping practices, respondents:

- may include deliveries to large commercial customers;

- may exclude deliveries to small industrial customers which may be included in the commercial sector;

- may classify by using the North American Industry Classification System or on the basis of energy demand or annual usage exceeding some specified limit set by the energy provider.
