In response to questions posed in a October 5, 2005, letter from Department of Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman, the National Petroleum Council (NPC), a Federal advisory committee, conducted a comprehensive study considering the future of oil and natural gas to 2030. The report, Facing the Hard Truths about Energy, as approved on July 18, 2007, details the NPC’s findings and recommendations.
