In the steel industry, the top four reported activities in 1998 included the purchase of electricity under special rate schedules (e.g., time-of-use rates), electricity load control, energy audits, and power factor correction or improvement. Overall, about 53.3% of the steel industry population reported engaging in at least one energy-management activity. [MECS 1998]
