Aluminum NAICS
In 1997, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) reclassified all U.S. industries under a new code – the North American Industry Classification System, or NAICS [OMB 1997]. These new classifications are being used in the Census of Manufactures conducted by the Department of Commerce, as well as by other Federal agencies that collect data from industry. The aluminum industry is segmented into the following NAICS codes under the category 3313 – Aluminum and Aluminum Production and Processing. * In the SIC system, a number of production activities related to aluminum manufacturing were grouped with that of other non-ferrous metals. However, beginning in 1997 under NAICS, such activities have been separated into aluminum-specific classifications, which allow more precise tabulation.
Data aggregated by SICs is available for comparison online.
