The majority of steel industry facilities are covered by SIC 3312 (steel works, blast furnaces [including coke ovens], and rolling mills). This sector accounts for more than 90% of steel industry energy use. Of the remaining four 4-digit SICs for the steel industry, only electrometallurgical products (SIC 3313) has data classified in the most recent MECS.
