Banner for Petroleum SIC's Petroleum Industry Analysis Brief

The Standard Industrial Classifications (SICs) for the petroleum industry are listed below. In 1997 the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) reclassified all U.S. industries under new codes - the North American Industry Classification System, or NAICS [OMB 1997]. These new classifications will be used in the next Census of Manufactures conducted by the Department of Commerce, as well as by other Federal agencies that collect data from industry. However, industry data are currently only available according to SIC codes.
