Changes to Table 3.1

Change in Table Title:
 
From "Average Net Oil Imports into OECD Countries, (2001 Average)" to "Oil Imports into OECD Countries, (2001 Daily Average)" to emphasize that the table includes both gross import and net import data.


Changes in Row Titles:
 
The word Gross was added to the beginning of the rows formerly entitled "Imports from OPEC," "Imports from Persian Gulf," "Imports from OPEC-Africa," "Imports from OPEC-South America," and "Imports from OPEC -Far East" to emphasize that the data listed below these row titles are gross imports. Also, the region title "OPEC-Far East" was changed to "OPEC-Asia."


Addition of New Row:
 
The second row provides data on Total Gross Imports.


Changes in Data:
 
United States--All data shown had been net imports. Now all data are gross imports, except for total net imports in the first row. All net import data for the United States are now available in Table 4.10a
 
Other OECD Countries--The source for non-United States data has been changed to the International Energy Agency's (IEA's) Monthly Oil Data Service from the IEA's Monthly Oil and Gas Statistics Database.
