The petroleum refining industry (SIC 2911) comprises establishments
engaged primarily in producing gasoline, kerosene, distillate
fuel oils, residual fuel oils, and lubricants through straight
distillation of crude oil, redistillation of unfinished petroleum
derivatives, cracking, or other processes. Quantities of oil
are reported here in barrels. For conversion to metric tons,
see Table 4-1.
