a Pipeline was not a part of the parent corporation in 1992.
b Pipeline was sold or spun off after 1997 and is no longer a part of the parent corporation.
c Less than half of a million dollars.
d The data show that the majority of the growth in natural gas pipeline's operating income, capital expenditures, and assets were due almost entirely to acquisitons and mergers by parent corporations between 1992 and 1997. In particular, assets including acquisitions and mergers declined 3 percent compared to an 85-percent increase when these same transactions were excluded.
Notes: The major interstate natural gas pipelines in table represent a select group of the industry. Only the pipelines that were owned by parent companies in this article are listed. -- denotes not meaningful; n/a denotes not applicable to the cateogory; and Bcf denotes billion cubic feet.
