On December 1, 1998 The Wall Street Journal announced that Exxon Corporation and Mobil Corporation had agreed to merge. The value of the transaction was estimated as $80 billion as Exxon agreed to exchange 1.32015 shares of Exxon stock for each outstanding share of Mobil stock. Exxon is effectively paying $99 for each outstanding share of Mobil stock, given the closing prices of the companies' stock when the deal was announced.
The following links provide company-level data from various public sources to inform discussions of the Exxon-Mobil merger. This data presentation is similar to data presentations that have been previously requested from EIA for other significant energy company mergers and/or corporate alliances.
