group encompasses a wide variety of industries. The wet corn milling industry
emits almost a sixth of the energy-related carbon in the food industry.

Carbon Emissions for the Food Industry by Source, 1994. Two sources,
natural gas and electricity, each account for roughly 40 percent of the
energy-related carbon emissions in the food industry. About one-sixth
of the emissions come from the use of coal.
