  OFFICE BUILDINGS
Where are they located?

Buildings, Floorspace, Population by Region

The South has the highest percent of office buildings, but the office buildings there are smaller, on average, than office buildings in the rest of the country.  The Northeast is more densely populated than the South and office buildings are larger, with more floors (30 percent of buildings in the Northeast have 3 or more floors compared to only 8 percent in the South).  In the South, there is not the same space constraint, so offices can be smaller and more spread out.

The largest office buildings are found in the Middle Atlantic Census division (part of the Northeast region) and the smallest in the East South Central division (part of the South region).
