OFFICE BUILDINGS

There were an estimated 705,000 office buildings in the U.S. in 1995.

Number of Buildings

In the Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS), office buildings include buildings used for general office space, professional offices, and administrative offices. For example, an office may be a computer center, bank, consultant's office, law office, or medical office.  An office building may also be part of a campus or complex, such as an administrative building on a college campus. (See Description of Building Types on the main CBECS page for a more detailed description.)
