HEALTH
CARE BUILDINGS
Are they on multibuilding complexes?
Most inpatient health care buildings are part of a multibuilding campus or complex (two or more buildings on the same site, owned or operated by a single organization, business or individual), while most outpatient health care buildings are not. Thirty-five percent of all health care buildings (37 thousand) are located on a multibuilding campus or complex. For health care buildings that are on a multibuilding complex, the type of complex is only statistically significant for those that are part of a hospital or other health care complex. For all health care buildings on a multibuilding complex, 62 percent are on a hospital or other health care complex; for inpatient health care buildings this figure is 68 percent and for outpatient health care buildings it is 57 percent.
