What's New in Energy Users Information
Household Vehicles Energy Use: Latest Data & Trends -- This report provides details on the nation’s energy use for household passenger travel. A primary purpose of this report is to release the latest consumer-based data on household vehicles and expenditures, derived from the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s 2001 National Household Travel Survey (NHTS) and independent estimates of vehicle miles per gallon and fuel prices at that time. EIA expects to release an in-depth analytical report in the upcoming months using these data. This report also draws on data programs made available to the EIA from other Federal agencies, EIA’s past Residential Transportation Energy Consumption Surveys (RTECS) and other EIA data sources and projections to assess household transport energy use from 1983 to the present time and into the near future. The data and analysis in this report center on several important intensities of use of household energy use for travel: number and type of vehicles per household; annual miles per household and per vehicle; gallons of fuel consumed and type of fuel used; prices paid for fuel and total expenditures; and fuel mileage. (Released 08/17/05)
Trend Data -- First time energy trend data from the Manufacturing Energy Consumption Surveys (MECS). The data are tabled jointly in multiple web formats. In addition to the 1985, 1991, 1994, and 1998 MECS data, tables of nominal and real economic indicators such as "value of shipments" along with limited physical data such as "tons of steel" are available. These data are the ingredients for energy intensity development and trend analysis. (Released 08/07/03)
Mountain -- This map presents annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil, electricity, and motor gasoline for the year 2000 for the eight Mountain States: Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Household density per square mile and weather indicators (30-year annual averages of precipitation, heating degree-days, and cooling degree-days) also are included. (Released 07/10/03) Pacific -- This
map presents annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil,
electricity, and motor gasoline for the year 2000 for the five Pacific
States: Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. Household
density per square mile and weather indicators (30-year annual averages
of precipitation, heating degree-days, and cooling degree-days) also
are included. South Atlantic Division -- This map presents annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil, electricity, and motor gasoline for the year 2000 for the eight South Atlantic States: Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Household density per square mile and weather indicators (30-year annual averages of precipitation, heating degree-days, and cooling degree-days) also are included. (Released 07/08/03) East South Central Division -- This map presents annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil, electricity, and motor gasoline for the year 2000 for the four East South Central States: Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Household density per square mile and weather indicators (30-year annual averages of precipitation, heating degree-days, and cooling degree-days) also are included. (Released 07/08/03) West South Central Division -- This map presents annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil, electricity, and motor gasoline for the year 2000 for the four West South Central States: Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. Household density per square mile and weather indicators (30-year annual averages of precipitation, heating degree-days, and cooling degree-days) also are included. (Released 07/08/03) West North Central Division -- This map presents annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil, electricity, and motor gasoline for the year 2000 for the seven West North Central States: Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Household density per square mile and weather indicators (30-year annual averages of precipitation, heating degree-days, and cooling degree-days) also are included (Released 07/01/03) New England Division -- This map presents annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil, electricity, and motor gasoline for the year 2000 for the six New England States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Household density per square mile and weather indicators (30-year annual averages of precipitation, heating degree-days, and cooling degree-days) also are included. (Released 07/01/03) Middle Atlantic Division -- This map presents annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil, electricity, and motor gasoline for the year 2000 for the three Middle Atlantic States: New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Household density per square mile and weather indicators (30-year annual averages of precipitation, heating degree-days, and cooling degree-days) also are included. (Released 07/01/03) East North Central Division -- This is the first of nine maps in a new series. The map shows annual household consumption of natural gas, fuel oil, electricity, and motor gasoline, as well as weather indicators, for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
