Residential Buildings

Residential buildings—such as single family homes, townhomes, condominiums, and apartment buildings—are all covered by the Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS). See the RECS home page for further information.

However, buildings that offer multiple accomodations such as hotels, motels, inns, dormitories, fraternities, sororities, convents, monasteries, and nursing homes, residential care facilities are considered commercial buildings and are categorized in the CBECS as lodging.
