Duties Biography
For more than twenty years, Ms. Brown has worked with a broad range of agencies that provide statistical data to varied customers including government policy makers, legislators, state and local officials and the public. She has regularly provided data to representatives of the U.S. Congress, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Federal Reserve Board, and numerous other groups for their use in determining policy and funding. She is committed to and has vast experience in human capital management and in managing financial resources for both reimbursable surveys and core government finance and employment programs. Beginning in 1997 Ms. Brown served as Chief of the Criminal Justice Statistics Branch at the U.S. Census Bureau. During the following three-year period, Ms. Brown’s primary responsibilities included organizational management of branch activities; personnel management and supervision; program management for a variety of criminal justice and education surveys; and providing technical knowledge and subject matter expertise to sponsoring agencies and other customers. She also negotiated contracts in excess of four million dollars within the Departments of Education and Justice for the performance of reimbursable surveys. In 2000, as the Assistant Division Chief for Special Statistics, Ms. Brown was responsible for three branches that conducted more than 15 reimbursable surveys on behalf of sponsoring agencies. Ms. Brown worked with sponsors and her staff to identify survey objectives, data needs, collection and processing methodologies, and realistic schedules of activities to ensure the successful conduct of surveys and censuses. Since 2003 Ms. Brown has served as the Chief, Governments Division at the Census Bureau where she leads a diverse staff of more than 170 people including statisticians, programmers, and non-professionals. Ms. Brown has been responsible for delivering and disseminating information on the organization, finances, and employment of Federal, state and local governments. She has been responsible for more than $20 million in reimbursable surveys conducted on behalf of other agencies and continually meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations. With regard to her educational background, Stephanie has a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland. |
