In 1983, U.S. PV cell and module shipments totaled 12,620 peak kilowatts, of which 15 percent were exported. Shipments totaled 50,562 peak kilowatts in 1998, of which 70 percent were exported, and in 1999, total shipments increased to 76,787 peak kilowatts, of which 72 percent were exported.
