Description: This bar chart shows that there are four types of photovoltaic cells and modules: single crystal silicon, cast and ribbon silicon, thin-film silicon, and concentrator silicon. Single crystal silicon and cast and ribbon silicon have the largest share (together 93 percent) of shipments by type. Most of the increase in 2001 was accounted for by single crystal which increased by almost 20,000 peak kilowatts to about 75,000 peak kilowatts in 2002. All other types declined except concentrator silicon which was minor in market share.
