Figure 1 is an exploding pie chart that shows renewable energy made up 7 percent of total U.S. energy consumption.  Of that 53 percent was from biomass energy, 34 percent from hydroelectric, 5 percent from geothermal, 7 percent from wind and 1 percent from solar.
