Figure 1: AFVs Made Available by Vehicle Type in 2000: This pie chart shows the total number of alternative fueled vehicles in the U.S. made available in 2000 by vehicle type. In 2000, there were made available 130,680 automobiles, 176,859 vans, 1,745 buses, 317,496 light duty trucks, 1,626 medium/heavy duty trucks, and 4,945 other onroad vehicles (motorcycles/low-speed neighborhood vehicles). The total number of AFVs made available in 2000 were 633,351. Light duty trucks accounted for the largest share with 50 percent, followed by automobiles and vans, 21 percent and 28 percent respectively. Medium/heavy duty trucks, other onroads and buses accounted for the remaining balance. Back
